Bank Tavern, 47 Main Street, KESWICK, CA12 5DS
Main Street is easy to find in Keswick as it is, as you might expect, the main street in the centre of town with lots of shops. Upon entering the recently refurbished establishment we were welcomed by the landlord and a couple of locals. It's obviously regarded as a good pub in the local area as it has won an award for its 'Services to the beer drinker in West Cumbria'. It was definitely a cosy pub with chatty locals and a good selection of beers. There were several Jennings beers on offer from the mild up to Snecklifter (abv 5.1%) - a dark, rich, malty beer with the addition of hops to the aftertaste - a great pint! Nearly 20 of us descended on the pub after a long walk and tried all the beers on offer and found them all to be good pints. Reasonably priced food too. The reason that the pub wasn't in the 2000 Good Beer Guide may be because the pub was being refurbished during the latter part of 1999.
