The Nag's Head, January 1998

A well known pub situated at the start/end of the Pennine Way at the top end of Edale. It is of course situated in an excellent walking area with the peaks of Mam Tor and Kinder Scout all within walking distance.

They've around 3 well-kept real ales on offer along with tea, coffee and hot chocolate etc. and a warm fire to sit next to and dry out/warm up after a day on the hills. They're not too fussy about walkers with boots either as the floor in the main bar is tiled. As you might expect the clientele especially at weekends is mainly walkers and walkers of course are not only thirsty but usually hungry too. They offer a good selection of basic cheap hot food at lunchtime and during the evenings to satisfy even the hungriest of walkers. The list of specials on offer while we were there included rabbit stew and game pie. Should the weather be good, then they've seating out the front and in their garden.
