Crown & Sceptre in April 2000

The first thing that I am going to say is it has a very mixed clientele, but don't be put off, it's a great place to go and have a beer with a friendly if a little busy atmosphere. I called in there for a quick drink on the way back from the Gower and was surprised at how full it was on a Sunday afternoon with folk lounging on the sofas towards the front, gathering around the bar and playing pool to the rear. Generally full of younger people then, they had an impressive range of real ales on offer including one from one of my favourite breweries, Archers of Swindon. If the selection downstairs didn't satisfy we could have always popped our heads into their mini Easter beer festival upstairs.

They also offer a good range of bar food at lunchtimes. In the summer there's also a patio and garden where you can enjoy your beer too.
