Me with friends outside the pub, Summer 1997

Another pub worth visiting in this fine county town is the Three Fishes which sits along a nice old side street in the centre of town. It's rather unusual in that you can see clearly right the way across the pub, yes, it's a non-smoking pub! I'm afraid that if you do want a smoke, you'll have to 'step outside Sir'! Very friendly atmosphere (I'm only saying that as we met a graduate of Birmingham University in the 1970's who's now a dentist and he bought us a pint! Thanks John!) and speedy service. They do good cheap freshly cooked food too though I think that they stop serving it earlier in the evening than most pubs and there's no food on Sunday evenings. Only one bar but it has a comfortable neat and tidy feel to it with lots of old beams and photos on the walls. They have up to 5 beers on offer with some interesting local guests too. They always have Timothy Taylor Landlord on, a previous CAMRA Beer of the Year, and it's always on good form here. The other two regular ales are Adnams Bitter and Fullers London Pride. The Three Fishes won Shrewsbury & West Shropshire CAMRA Branch Pub of The Year in 2002 and came second in the Regional Finals in the same year. (thanks to Nigel Bevan, of Shrewsbury and West Shropshire CAMRA for the updating my review).
