Jim and Gareth outside the Pheasant on
the longest day, 21 June 1999

Tucked away in the back streets of Stone on the corner of Mount Street and Old Road, this very traditional local has a lot to offer the visitor. We came across it by accident and were warmly welcomed by the landlady as we stepped in through the door and sat in the public bar with a group of locals. Certainly a smart exterior and a clean interior with a very traditional feel, a proper back street local.

Certainly a busy pub with an active social scene with a pub darts, football etc team. You certainly wouldn't go hungry here either with a good choice of home-cooked food available at lunchtimes every day except Sunday and on Friday and Saturday evenings. We unfortunately went on a weekday evening when they don't do food. However, they have an excellent range of well kept real ales on offer at all times with representatives from the Bateman, Greene King, Marstons and Banks's breweries on offer when we visited in 1999.
